Paul Lowe
For Christmas I was lucky enough to get a Nikon digital SLR camera. I loved my Nikon Coolpix but was getting frustrated with it in the Winter months as all my pics were coming out dark.
One of my aims this year is to get better at setting up shots, and photography in general. Along the journey to come I want to share with you some of my favourite inspirational pics that I find from photographers and stylists.
First up is Paul Lowe, a prop stylist with Vivian Artists. He was born in Oslo, Norway and currently lives in Brookyln, New York. He has been working in the industry for 17 years after being introduced to styling by a photographer friend. He is inspired by the love of creating beautiful works and his favourite projects are those that are the complete package from planning, props, food styling and everything else in between.
I love Paul's styling as I find it very sweet, delicate and charming and it's very clean and simple in approach.
Have a sweet day!
First Day At School
Another huge milestone in our house today with Sienna starting school.
I can't believe how grown up she looked. She was so excited to go to school and could not wait to get there. In true confident Sienna fashion off she went into her class room without even a glance back to say good bye...
Jeanne d'Arc Living
Jeanne d'Arc Living was started by photographer Lonnie and stylist Vivian. They turned their hobby into a career by writing for various Danish and international magazines about decorating in a Nordic Country style. They now produce the very highly sought after magazine Jeanne d'Arc Living.
In May 2007 they started a wholesale company selling the items featured in the magazine. All their products are either their own designs or reproductions of older things.
It is available in the UK from Camel & Yak, and in the US from The Beautiful Life.
Check out my Copenhagen Interior shops map for stockists.
Have a sweet day!
7 Months
Here is my beautiful Indi who is now 7 months.
She is an absolute delight and gives the best cuddles.
She is eating 3 solid meals a day now and is my champion eater - will eat anything and does not need it to be pureed to a soup like consistency for it to go down.
Time appears to be flying very fast with this little one - I would love to push the pause button right now before she is on the move and life changes once again.
Party Planning
Preparations have begun for Sofia's 4th birthday party - her birthday is not for 8 weeks but you can never be too organised!!
She has requested a princess party.
The lovely Sharnel at My Life My Loves has inspired me with her beautiful dessert table she did for Williams 4th Birthday Party and has encouraged me to bite the bullet and do my very own.
I found some great jars for the lollies at House to Home (one of the $2 shops) - $2.95 each for the jar and $2.50 for the scoop
Then it was on to finding pink lollies to fill them up - I started with Mushroom Bites and it turns out that 600 grams is the correct amount for each jar.
Here is jar number one - now to find 5 different pink lollies to fill up the remaining jars.
Stay tuned for further updates as this party and the dessert table comes together.
Cool, calm, serene... helllllp!
I know I was supposed to be focused this week on creating an amazing play area for Fern, but I've had one of those sort of blah weeks... and have absolutely nothing to share with you. :(
Read More...
Whilst I've been achieving nothing for Fern's space, I've also been pondering my own. Space, that is. Because of course, once you have children you value your own little space more than ever.
I am, of course, talking about my (well, 'our' I guess - the husband likes to sleep/ shower in there too) bedroom. Here's what it looks like at the moment (wardrobes painted gloss white on opposite side of room; ensuite to the right):
I am slowly emerging from a long obsession with the colour pink. I have a lot of pink in my house; everything from a KitchenAid mixer to my beloved Eames rocking chair. I still love these items... but I'm ready to add some other colour to the mix! When we bought our house a couple of years back I painted the bedroom quarter strength Dulux Hogs Bristle and a feature wall in a sort of plum shade of pink. Trendy at the time, but its now screaming at me!
What I long for is a bedroom that oozes serenity, calm, and peace. I don't hate the furniture in the room, and I love my current bedlinen I purchased from the Aura range:
But I need a new colour scheme! And this is where I need your help. Would it be totally daggy to go to Dulux with my pillowslip to try to get a complementary colour for a new feature wall? I know feature walls are soooo 2007 or whatever, but I still like the idea of one in my bedroom! I'm also thinking about ditching the big wedding photo, at least from where it currently lives above the bed, and painting the wall a metallic blue/grey similar to this:
Porters Explorer Blue
Then, I thought I might find a few different sized ornate frames and paint them gloss white, filling them with art like this:
Or perhaps I could bite the bullet and wallpaper behind the bed:
Helllllp! If there are any budding or would-be interior designers out there reading my blog could you please give me your advice? You can see I am in desperate need of a bedroom colour-makeover!
Sorry, will try to (at least appear) a little less frazzled next week. Have a great weekend.
