Scrapbook Weekend

I have just had a blissful two full days of scrapbooking without interruption (Mr A owed me a weekend after his big trip away bay in May) - here are four of my creations from the weekend.

Gender + Neutral = Shudder...

So, I'm over 30 weeks preggers now. By rights, I should have (in my own head anyway) near-on everything organised over the next few weeks in case I 'go early' and truly, I intend to get right onto it... but in one organisational area in particular, I am really struggling.

In truth, I am beginning to lament my noble decision to keep the baby's gender a 'surprise.' It is a decorating nightmare challenge, to be sure, but can we even talk about costuming and wardrobe? I mean, have you seen the 'gender neutral' offerings out there?
By this stage, when I was pregnant with Fern, I pretty much had her entire wardrobe entirely sorted. People like shopping for girls. Friends, family, even work colleagues I barely knew would approach my desk after lunch hour with pink frilly offerings... shopping for baby girls is an entirely effortless and enjoyable pastime. Too easy, some might say - esp if they are currently banned from spending and Country Road send them a one-day-sale notice in the mail.

Ahem.

Those blessed with baby boys often groan about the general lack of design creativity by the stores in the costuming department. I have conducted some half-hearted research and discovered they are right... but only to a point. There are some gorgeous things if you know where to look. Hello online shopping!

But gender neutral? Not so much. I've been everywhere, and this is what I currently have in stores for my new baby:

- 1 long sleeved onesie from Pumpkin Patch
- 2 yellow Bonds Wondersuits
- One all-in-one and a long sleeved top from Cotton On
Um... that should be enough... for the first day, anyway?! Am I the only one struggling in this area or am I being abnormally fussy? Really, I need some truth here because I am at a complete loss. I can't even seem to find gorgeous plain white baby clothes, and I would have thought they'd be everywhere! I can't bring myself to buy my newborn scratchy unnatural fibres which rules out just about everything from the cheaper chainstores (sorry Target/ Big W) and even good old never-let-me-down DJ's delivered nought over the weekend. I did find some rather gorgeous Peter Rabbit white onesies in Myer (I love this brand) in a beautiful soft cotton, but they were sold out in all the small sizes. What's a rapidly expanding, desperate, impending mother to do??

Folks, should I even be worrying about this? Can I get away with just a handful of clothing to start, with the vision of doing a desperate shop once the baby is born? How far did YOU go with gender neutral clothing? Where did you shop?

ps. You will be pleased to know that my body has finally cottoned on to the fact that it is supposed to be not only pregnant, but in the final trimester. Just this last week, I have doubled my body weight (and number of chins), I'm tired as all buggery and just a tiny bit neurotic. I would post a picture, but I'm not sure I can fit all of myself into the one frame...;)

OK, I know Sundays here at Torie Jayne are normally reserved for showing you some of the lovely images I find on Flickr but I recently discovered Pinterest through the sweet Rachel at Lovely Clusters. It is a great new site that lets you collect, and showcase collections of, your favorite inspirational pics in a beautifully visual way. You simply add the "pin it" bookmarklet to your browser's toolbar and anytime you find a great image you click "pin it" and it will add it to your board. There is also an upload feature for your own images. This is one stylish site for creating inspirational mood boards. I am in love!

You can check out my boards, like I love Macarons, Shades of turquoise or Bird love and many more. If you're inspired by Pinterest like me, please follow my boards.♥♥♥

Have a sweet day!

Point + Shoot : 19

Since having our darling daughter, our social life {as expected} has slowed dramatically. We loved having people over, our house was always full and both my husband and I really enjoyed entertaining.
Lou got to about 8 or 9mths and it just got too hard  - I'd put her to bed and she would be aware that we where having fun in the next room and refused to sleep.
The hubby is Soccer mad - he has been so excited about the world cup finally starting - so excited, that he cleaned out a garage filled it with chairs, heaters and put up a massive projector to watch as many games as he can.
Of course in the land of man - the bigger the TV - the more people pop over (kind of like in the land of kids and swimming pools) - its been so nice to see our old friends again. Saturday he put on a little BBQ in the freezing cold,  to prepare them to watch all 3 matches.
I, on the other hand, cant stand watching sport at the best of times but those trumpets are just killing me - so I decided to have my own shindig inside and indulge in a little swoon time of my own.

Saturday 19th June 11.15pm

I've never seen or read Twilight before and have been meaning to see what the all the fuss was about for ages. Who knew pale faced, cold blooded vampires could be so sexy :)  It did make me feel a little old but has tempted me to pick up a copy of the book.

Hope you had a lovely weekend!

Why not check out what everyone else has been doing over at Chantelle's Place!
(and don't forget to wish her a happy birthday)

The June Chronicles: What's on your fridge?

On Sunday as I gave my fridge a half-hearted swipe with a wet cloth, it occurred to me that in most households, the fridge door is a very dynamic, revealing chronicler of family life. Mine changes almost daily as artworks, notices, shopping lists and snippets come and go. I thought it would be fun to record and share what's on our fridges once a month. You can do it with photos on your own blog (linky at the end of this post, open for a week - I've never done this before so I hope it works...) or by comment below. I would love to hear from you either way!

The June Chronicles

There's a cute picture of friendly teeth that Cappers drew for the dentist but I forgot to take last visit. The sweet postcard is from Ivy Designs (customised with grey Cappers 'paper sculpture') and you can get these cute little loveheart magnets from kikki k.

There's a little cartoon that I've had since Maxi-Taxi was about 3 months old. It says: 6.07am. Only 12 and a half hours until Ned's bedtime. I related then. I relate now.
There's a picture of Kingston, whose 'education' we are sponsoring in Malawi through Plan International. This is the photo we received when we started sponsoring him. He's must be at least 23 now so I assume he's in about 5th grade.

There's a print-out of the 'five minute skirt' instructions from Angry Chicken that I was going to make next weekend last April.

There's an Elk postcard that I just like.

And there's a picture of my beautiful nephews and niece, children of MultipleMum at And then there were four (make that 'and then there were four under four'... if you've ever struggled with finding the patience for your own young 'uns, you need to read this blog!)

That's my fridge for June. What's on your fridge right now?
