He loves to take photographs of his daddy, my big belly, birds, dinosaurs and himself {standing in front of the mirror}
Towards the end of last week i felt the fuzziness lift and even got my motivation back for taking pictures...the second trimester is going to be full of sun filled moments with my beautiful boy
he keeps telling me
"I'm not your baby any more Mummy...i am a big boy"
That you are my darling one!
big and wise...and full of love, playful smiles, games, cuddles and ideas
...........you will always be my baby
Little Girls in Big Beds!
It seems like only yesterday I was scouring the baby stores in search of the perfect cot for little Fern (sigh)... when I was about 6 months pregnant we settled on a lovely white wooden number, and Dan insisted on building it that very day, despite the fact that I was still painting the nursery and there was wet paint and drop-sheets everywhere! He might have been a tiny bit excited, I think:
Anyway. I remember the day we brought Fern home and placed her inside her new cot. She looked so TINY and it seemed to swallow her up...
But the damdest thing about babies is that they grow, and before I knew it I was raising sides and lowering mattresses and then suddenly little Elliott was on his way and it was time.
But before I could work myself into a slather about finding the perfect little girl's bed... it found me.
And once again, it was Lesley my magical-mother-in-law who came through with the goods. She was moving some furniture out to make a sewing room and would I like to use the antique-looking cream wrought-iron day bed for Fern? Um.... do you deliver??
And here it is. With a brand new mattress which we bought over the weekend and which makes the bed about 40ft off the floor! (not a problem, we've got a safety rail installed and besides, she prefers to yell out rather than attempt to climb out herself anyways!)
What do you think? I just love it. In fact, I want it for myself! I bought that duvet cover over the weekend, it was on sale for - like - $60, can you believe? Unfortunately, I don't have a long shot of the bed because underneath is a mattress and a whole heap of junk which I get around to cleaning up at some point. And my teeny tiny baby girl? She loves it too. In fact, last night she asked to go to bed. That says a lot. Plus, she thinks it's her new 'jumpy jumpy':
I'm happy Fern is happy. But a little bit sad that its the end of an era. Why can't they stay babies just a little bit longer? Still, I can't wait to curl up reading stories together; no doubt it will be a little comfier than it was in her cot!

Heading down south
A very impromptu getaway for Mr A and I last weekend proved to be just what we needed after our long week. We were looking for an excuse to escape for our 10th wedding anniversary (which slipped by last September) so when the opportunity came up we took it.
The south coast of New South Wales is such a wonderful place to visit - I am not one to head south very often but when I do I am constantly reminded of how picturesque and tranquil this wonderful country of ours is.
Our first stop was Kiama - I have not been to Kiama since my school days and it is so much prettier than I remembered.
The lighthouse stood majestically on the hill and the famous Kiama blow hole did it's thing!
After a lovely drive through the Kangaroo Valley we arrived at our destination for the night - Peppers Craigeburn in Bowral. The air felt clean and the lush greenery we could see from our room was wonderful.
And to end our weekend one last photo of my trusty little Honda who has served me so well for the past 10 years - the main reason for our little trip was to pick up a new car we had ordered and hand over my lovely CRV. A small little glitch with our new car meant that we were unable to take her home just yet. We headed off in a loan car until our new one is delivered to us but I felt a little sad as we left her sitting there by her lonesome in the dealership. I could hear her saying "they have driven me 3 hours south and just left me here". Good bye my little friend - may you find a new owner that will love you like I did!
On a final note - thank you to all my lovely friends who left such heartfelt comments after yesterday's post - it really did mean a lot.

The online persona
Would it surprise you to know that I never wear pink? My new-look blog is very pink, yet even my own sister was surprised to learn that it is actually my favourite colour.
My response: I'm a redhead, of course I don't wear pink!
Inspired by Sarah at Just Me, I've been thinking a little bit about my 'online persona'. Do you ever think about that? Do you ever wonder what some people are 'really like'? I suppose I do wonder because sometimes what goes on behind 'closed doors' in life is often quite different to what is publicly revealed. I think we've all been surprised by people in this way? And I've heard some amazing stories of the lengths some bloggers have gone to to 'be someone else' online... naive old me has been shocked to the core!
Well, I think with me, what you see is what you get. Or at least, what you read...
I am a very aesthetic person so having beautiful surroundings is fundamentally important to me. I have an eye for 'what looks nice', if you will. As a consequence, I'm much, much prettier online than I am in real life. Don't get me wrong, I am not an unattractive gal; but at 182cm tall and, ahem, 'big boned', 'pretty' I am not!
So, I'm sorry, I don't really 'look like' my blog. You know?
But other than that, it's all here. I'm not a downer person in real life and my blog is chipper. I'm not a nasty person with no friends and here I am with lots. I'm not beating my kids into submission and I'm here advocating for time outs and encouragement. I write like I talk - well, at least how I would talk if I had the ability to reconsider everything that came out of my mouth before hitting 'speak'... wouldn't that be nice! But then, I think some people already do that and it's called 'thinking before you speak'. Never my strong point unfortunately!
I'm me, just me. My 'best me' if you like. I think we are all our 'best me' online - the me we are when we're not tired and fed-up and wearing cranky pants - and personally I think blogging has helped me be a better me all the time. How about you?
Do you ever wonder if the people whose blogs you love are 'really like that'? Does it matter if they are 'putting on' a particular image when they blog? Would you like to meet them face to face?
This post was inspired by Sarah at Just Me who posted about the same thing last Friday.
