in full bloom

I came across this gorgeous little flower store on my journey through the city of Melbourne last weekend.
It is near a jewelry
store that is
very special
to me
more on that next week!

wouldn't you just love to buy them all?!

Ms Nosybella: How often do you... clean?

I'm curious to know how often others do the things we all need to do. I'm not sure why, but there's a yearning in me to ask and I just have to get it out.

So, how often do you (my frequency in brackets)...

  • Clean the shower (most weeks)
  • Clean the toilet (every other day)
  • Change the towels (weekly if I can get them dry between goes)
  • Vacuum (once a week / twice a week if the Tsunamis have been particularly forceful)
  • Clean the fridge inside (fortnightly)
  • Change the bed linen (about every fortnight - mostly, god sometimes it can be weeks... shocker! - or daily for bed wetters... sigh)
  • Wash the floors (weeklyish)
  • Clean the oven (gosh, hardly ever... but I do line with alfoil and change that, well, hardly ever!)
What are your 3 least favourite household chores? Mine are:

  • Putting away folded clothes
  • Ironing (I just don't)
  • Changing the bed linen (see above)
And household chores you secretly don't mind doing?

  • Scrubbing the bathroom
  • Vacuuming
  • Pegging out the clothes
Please share. Ms Nosybella really, really wants to know.

Clothing Co-ordination

When Indi was born last year some lovely friends gave us a voucher to get some family portraits done so this weekend we are off to use the voucher. My mind is now all a flutter with what to dress them in so that they all co-ordinate without being the same. Things were made a little easier today when the latest Seed Child email arrived in my inbox with some inspiration from their new range - here are my picks! Guess where I am off to tomorrow! (Shh don't tell Mr A!)

Leanne
food for the soul...

Nothing better than home made chicken and sweetcorn soup on a cold winters evening and perfect for one little boy sick with sore ears. So a chicken soup was on the to do list today. I just made up my recipe with ingredients that I already had in the refrigerator.

Our made up Chicken and Sweet Corn Soup goes like this:

1 large leek
garlic
2 big blobs of butter
1 small red onion
1 large chicken breast
a little red capscan
a little zucchini
2 corn cobs
Chicken stock

In one large pot sauté the butter and leeks gently with a little fresh garlic.
Once browned add the corn (removed from the cob) and add 2 cups of chicken stock and allow to boil. In a separate saucepan add chicken breast to boiling stock and allow to poach for a couple of minutes in the stock and red onion. Once this was underway I used my hand blender to roughly blend the corn and leek broth. Once the corn and leek was a little smoother I added a handful of zucchini and capsican for colour and goodness.

Once the chicken had been poached and cooled a little I shredded the chicken and place it back into the larger pot along with some of the chicken broth.

I continued to stir and cook for a couple of minutes, just before serving to the 2 hungry boys in my house I placed some Chinese noodles and a handful of flat leaf parsley into the pot.
{I also used some chilli flakes in my husbands bowl - along with a little salt and pepper to taste}
A quick and easy meal and can be adapted with other ingredients, enjoy!
exploring our finds...

A winter walk and lots of little objects to explore once we arrived home. We put all the little objects out onto a tray to show Daddy when he got home from work. We had fun sorting bush flowers, sticks, pebbles, dried leaves and little seed pods and berries (not to be eaten)! a busy and fun afternoon exploring our local creek...
what we discovered along the way...

a little boy who loves to explore and stroll...we had fun skimming pebbles in the creek, discovered a lone autumn leaf {the colours of autumn are so beautiful} and a seed pod which was a little wet and mouldy from the cold weather.
