Witchery Kids - Some Great Offers

I am really loving the new Witchery Kids summer collection - the colours are just fantastic.
They have the perfect pieces for my girls for this season and they currently have some great competitions and giveaways on their website.

The first great offer - when you purchase any two items from their comp page you receive free shipping and a prize - there are fabulous cameras, watches and even bikes to be won.  (something to put away for Christmas if you win!)

The second is the opportunity to win a $500 shopping voucher by submitting your kids art!  The top six artists receive a Witchery voucher and the the lucky winner will also receive an exclusive art class with children's illustrator Peter Viska.

Check out their website here to find out all the info.

Coordinating homewares with fashion!

At the Kelani stand at the Craft & Stitches show a few months back, (you know, where I remortgaged the house to buy almost every bit of fabric on show) my crafty mother-in-law snaffled the most di-viiine pieces of fabric with which to make me a skirt. I helped choose. But it was hard; I liked pretty much everything at the store. I love colour though, and in the end the vibrant hues of this fabric won me over.

And on my birthday last week, my skirt materialised! (pardon the pun)

It's a wrap-around number that can be worn on either side of the fabric (it is purple polka dots on the inside - perfect for a more flamboyant occasion), and I think it rather lovely!

But out of the gift-bag came an added little bonus... a pair of matching cushions!

And now, I can sit on the couch in my new skirt, gorgeously coordinating with my soft furnishings... I mean. Could I ask anything more?

Please ignore the dreadful model -- but what do you think of the fabric? Would it be rude to want a matching fabric-covered canvas, too?!

Gluten free vanilla doughnuts with strawberry glaze

Mini doughnuts for my Winter Wonderland dessert table

Yesterday I showed you my inspiration for mini doughnuts. I just had to have a go myself and love how they turned out. I will definitely be making some more batches for my Winter Woodland dessert table and to give as gifts.

Gluten free vanilla donuts (makes 24 mini doughnuts)

Ingredients
  • 110g (1 cup) gluten free flour
  • 1 tsp xantham gum
  • 115g (1/2 cup) caster sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons buttermilk
  • Non-stick cooking spray

What you will need

Cooking instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 160 deg C, fan assisted (370 deg F)
  2. Lightly spray doughnut pan with non stick cooking spray
  3. In a bowl beat the eggs, buttermilk, vanilla essence and oil together until you get a foamy mixture
  4. In a separate bowl, add the sieved dry ingredients to the sugar and mix.
  5. Gradually pour foamy mixture into dry ingredients and stir until mixture is combined
  6. Pour mixture into greased doughnut pan until each cavity is half full (I prefer to use a piping bag to fill each cup more evenly and cleanly)
  7. Bake in preheated oven for 10-15 mins or until doughnut springs back when lightly pressed
  8. Turn out onto baking rack and leave to cool
