Like the Book? Buy the Fabric!

One day recently as I was idly browsing Amazon for crafty book inspiration, I spied some eye-candy in the form of this tome:

If pictures speak 1000 words... need I even go on? Needless to say, I bought it. Immediately.

Girl's World by Jennifer Paganelli offers some glorious sewers-porn in the form of patterns: girl's dresses, fairy skirts, hair accessories, cushions and all things girlie. All beautifully photographed and presented in a hard-cover complete with hot-pink ribbon tie. With the most divine fabrics to drool over on every page.

I mean.

Jennifer is American though, and I've never even seen this gorgeous book on local bookshelves. You can therefore imagine my excitement when I discovered today that new local online Fabric Emporium Fabric Traders stocks Jennifer Paganelli fabrics!!!

The best thing is you can mix and match from pretty much any in the range and you can't go wrong...

Pretty reasonably priced too at $14 a metre; and I'll be grabbing these ones to make some Summer dresses with for bm3... and for Fern too.

Do your eyes glaze over at the sight of fabric swatches? Or do you too look at colours and patterns like a big juicy hamburger?! Do tell!

Happy weekend.....

Bird house key hooks, how to

Bird house key hooks steps 1 to 4
Drill small hole in top of wooden perch and lightly tap picture hook into drilled hole. Paint house and hook with white paint, and leave to dry.

Bird house key hooks steps 5 to 8
Starting on the outside edge of the roof, carefully stick lines of masking tape to roof. Tuck tape under roof and trim off any excess. Starting at the bottom of the house, stick lines of masking tape on front of house.

Bird house key hooks steps 9 to 12
Cover entire front of house in masking tape and trim off any excess. Cut lines into the masking tape where it covers the hole and press masking tape through so the hole is exposed. Cover sides of house in masking tape and trim off any excess.

Bird house key hooks steps 13 to 16
Cover base in masking tape and trim off any excess. Coat house with PVA glue in sections and leave to dry - this ensures that they do not stick to the surface you are drying them on.

Bird house key hooks steps 17 to 19
Paint wooden board in white paint and drill two mounting holes, one at each side. Carefully glue houses to wooden board using PVA wood glue and leave to dry. Screw board to wall and hang keys!

Have a sweet day!

This week I'm grateful for... surprises

Do you remember me telling you about the amazing party I was going to belatedly have (my birthday was back in August!) for my 40th and then the fact that I cancelled it because life just got in the way?

Well, this week I'm grateful for...

193. Surprises - A dear (new) friend insisted that we come over for dinner on the night the party was scheduled for. 'You don't want to be sitting at home wondering whether you would have been having a great time,' she said. We popped over, we had dinner together and just as we were finishing up... lots and lots of friends started coming in. Surprise!

194. Kindness - have I been grateful for this before? Probably. Kindness can never be over-rated. What a kind, generous, lovely thing for my friend to do for me. She is wonderful and I am so very lucky to have her in my life.

195. Entertainers - Linda is an 'entertainer'. She loves having people for dinner, BBQs, swim parties... just getting people together is what she loves best. Every group of friends needs a Linda. More than 40 people over to her house for a surprise party for me? No problem!

So, what's making you smile today? Add your post to the list below (and please, we love you, but it really does matter that your post is a Grateful one and not just a random) and pretty-please add a link back to this linky. Then pop over to visit other bloggers who are spreading a little sunshine.
