four tier chocolate layer cake
while watching junior masterchef last night my husband & I were wishing we had the ingredients to whip up this decadent Donna Hay cake it looked seriously delicious & just the thing to enjoy on a Sunday night. Sadly we didn't have any eggs. Maybe I will feel creative during the week & make it as a surprise for that cup of tea we share when he gets home from work?!

Weekend Report- Part II

As mentioned in my previous post my nephew Hayden is spending the night with me because his baby sister will be entering the world tomorrow! So, after baking muffins we went outside to get all our energy out for the night. We had a great time laughing and being silly over the littlest funnies. And it worked- Hayden is now watching Harry Potter on the couch next to me and Patton is laying under my feet.

giggling because my shoes made him fall over

 aunt bird & Hayden
 aunt 'kaka' and Hayden.

And we can not wait to wake up in the morning, eat our blueberry muffins, and head out to the hospital to see my sister before Bailey is born.  Hayden will go with Grandpa after seeing his momma and I will get to be there as Bailey enters the world :) Hayden is thrilled that he will have a baby sister and I'm so excited to meet my new niece.
 Tomorrow is the big day!

Weekend Report- Part 1

I took my weekend buddy Patton to the dog park. He made a friend, Bentley. And they were soo cute together. They played wonderfully. Nothing like watching a four month old puppy chasing down and flailing his goofy paws on a huge, gentle 80lb dog. Near the end of the time we spent there I remembered I had my camera with me and got a couple shots, but they don't do justice for all the cuteness that went on.

There were times where the puppy laid on his back and pawed up at Patton, and Patton laid down too and gently played with him. Adorable.

Roxy doesn't 'play' with many dogs, she's particular. So this was a real treat to watch. It gave me the 'I want a puppy' itch! But that won't be any time soon!

Sunday Football- of course.
Well this was a bit different from the norm. Hub went to the game in Chicago with a friend so Lori came over and we baked brownies, made grilled cheese sandwiches, watched the game, anndd made these:
Vanilla bean ice cream on warm double chocolate brownies topped with Hershey syrup and peanut butter Oreo crumbs.. is your mouth watering yet?! One word: Yum.

My nephew was dropped off for the evening while my sister prepares for baby Bailey! She will be induced in the morning. So we baked blueberry muffins to enjoy in the morning before departing for the hospital..

 Goof ball...
he was such a good helper

our finished blueberry muffins!

Then we decided to play outside with Patton before settling down for the night..
That will be the next post.

Busting out of the Comfort Zone

The V8 Supercars. Surprise. I had a fantastic time in the pits during practice, talking to the drivers and crew and learning all sorts of interesting facts about cars, cars, cars. The smells, the sounds, the sights, I kind of 'got it'. I can't say I'm car racing's newest fan, but I will say that I'm not knocking anything I don't know about in future.

It's good to break this habit. I have a bad tendency to turn my nose up at things I consider... 'not me'. It really switches you off from experiencing things that are a bit out of your usual comfort zone but are great fun nonetheless. It's good to hang out with people you ordinarily wouldn't meet and talk about things you ordinarily wouldn't consider. Good for sparking creative inspiration and good for the soul.

I'm challenging myself to embrace new experiences from now on. I'm going to drag my little family along to something new whenever I can. You just never know what the Tsunamis are going to be into so it's up to LOML and I to introduce them to as many different things as we can. And you never know, I just might find a new passion of my own along the way.

Do you shake things up regularly? What do you to do get yourself out of your comfort zone?

Week-a-Boo

Well haven't we been blessed with beautiful weather for this weekend! The sun was shinning, there was that freshness in the air, the sounds of mowers mowing and birds chirping replaced the raindrops and silence that has been around for a few weeks! We definitely took advantage of Spring finally showing her pretty little face!

Friday night I had to work but we went to Miss 8's art show at her school! WOW! The art work by the students just blew me away! The gorgeous paintings by the preppies all the way through to the in depth drawings and the stunning sculptures by the year 12's were just divine and the talent that was showcased that night was just phenomenal.

Saturday the 23rd of October 2010 was my gorgeous sisters 23rd Birthday!
Saturday morning we went to our local plant nursery and had breakfast with our family. It was lovely to sit and share a beautiful breakfast with my family. Something different but we still shared many laughs and stories! My sister went on to spend the day with her friends but I was glad to get to spend the morning with her.
~ Sisterly Love ~

Our birthday breakfast celebration was followed by 2 BBQ's - told you we really took advantage of the nice weather haha - We celebrated with family and friends for birthday's and farewells and our Saturday was finished off with Rob hitting the sack and me hooking up with my cousins again for round 2 of 'Singstar' - we are a little bit obsessed with this game at the moment and I feel so so sorry for our neighbours during this phase! But once again I had an amazing night with plenty and plenty of laughs and...
~ I GOT SINGSTAR ON MY FAVOURITE SONG ~
A proud moment hahahahaha ;-)

Today I spent the morning cleaning, cleaning, cleaning while Rob serviced his fishing rods - don't ask hahah - which was a 3 hour job haha But then the afternoon was spent in our pool and spending time with our puppies. While outside I was shocked to notice our garden had just bloomed from all of the rain. Our plants were just so beautiful!

Spending time in our garden is just so more enjoyable being surrounded by these gorgeous plants with their lush green foliage and vibrant colours. I was so inspired I took my laptop out into our patio area and spent the last hour of sunlight catching up on my favourite blogs and enjoying the views!

~ What a way to end a beautiful weekend ~

How was your weekend? - Did you lap up the gorgeous sunshine?
