A bit dotty about this book!

You know when every now and again, just the cover of a book is enough to have you clicking on Amazon to pre-order immediately? For me this morning, it's the discovery of this book:

... that has me reaching for my credit card! I already stalk Tiff's blog regularly for crafty, arty eye-candy; this woman is seriously inspiring.

dottie angel lives in a run down cottage over looking the sea.

she has two airstream trailers in the yard, one is her studio and the other stores her vast collection of vintage notions... her eight children are home schooled and spend the day outside running barefoot and their evenings sitting by the fireplace, learning ancient crafting technics. they never talk back to their mother and always smile... she has several chickens, seven rescued greyhounds and a bearded dragon named STIG... dottie spends most days dressed in an old vintage slip that belonged to her grandmother, that she customized. she thinks to herself, surely everyone dreams of living this life, or at least dressing like they do...
Tif lives in suburbia, is a Brit, a mother of four kids who talk back and a wife. she wears a customized slip and dreams of living dottie angel's life...

See? I can only find the book here, but I'm hoping I can order from my local bookshop. Like, yesterday if not sooner. What books have you stumbled upon lately that have lifted your spirits?

Stillbirth Foundation Australia Annual Fundraiser

Saturday night was the annual Stillbirth Foundation Australia Fundraiser.
Silly me didn't take my camera well because... too many other things to take and it was forgotten!  I did snap a few quick shots with my iPhone and instagram so this will have to do for my shots.  Late this afternoon Mick Toal our official photographer came to the rescue and sent me a few shots of the committee and the room so I have included them as well - our theme for the night was Alice in Wonderland - so much fun - the ballroom at the Hilton Hotel looked just fabulous!

Thanks to everyone who supported the evening - we had a wonderful night and raised lots of money for such an important cause - funding research into stillbirth.

 Great prizes and giveaways
Big props and little props to keep with the Alice in Wonderland theme

On the night we also launched a beautiful new booklet that has been proudly put together by the Stillbirth Foundation Australia - it is called "Stillbirth in Australia".  This booklet is the first of it's kind in the world and will be distributed to every maternity hospital within Australia - such an incredible achievement.

The booklet has been so well thought out and a long time in the planning and production - it is something that is very much needed by parents at the immediate time of the grief in losing a baby - something I so desperately wanted after losing Laura.

If you are interested in finding out more about the booklet or how you can become involved with the Stillbirth Foundation Australia please do not hesitate to contact me via email - I would love to hear from you.

Easy Street versus the direction I'm going in

While we're on the subject of time management (she says, as if it hasn't been a week since the topic was last raised), I have realised that I make things very difficult for myself.

Standing in the newsagency, waiting to buy my sneaky copy of the UK Country Living magazine so I can keep dreaming The Dream, I glanced over at the three racks of birthday invitations booklets. 'Come to my Rainbow Party' a book of 25 urged me.

'That's funny,' I thought. 'I was just now thinking that I need to get onto designing, proofing, printing, cutting out and glueing the 25 Rainbow Party invitations we need for Capper's birthday.'

And I bought my magazine and I left the shop.

Why, oh why (oh why!) can't I be the person that buys the book of invitations?

Do you also like to make things as difficult as you possibly can for yourself?

Fun candy table ideas

Fun candy tables

I have been thinking about candy tables recently and have found some gorgeous new inspiring ones. I love the bon bons in such bright colours, and the wooden tree with the kites is super cute. I can't wait to do a candy table for Christmas this year!

piggy tails poem

flippy little piggy tails
a ponytail times two
strands in bands with matching clips
bunches softly smooth
silky through my fingertips
in the shopping queue
a small thing yet another step
growing girl are you.
