I'm not here, I'm there...

I'm not home at the moment. I'm here. In the country. In an old, rambling farmhouse with nothing but 3000 hectares of rolling pastures, a mountainous backdrop, and the sound of distant thunder. It's a long way from the stresses of everyday life. And I'm happy, here with my family. And only one bar of mobile reception. My shops are on 'vacation' for the week and so (blessedly) am I.

If you need me, I'll be here...

Our cottage, a million miles from anywhere...

the outside...
Elli-Boo with hands outstretched to catch....

..... the grapes that drape along the cottage verandah!
We're getting some amazing family portraits!
But best of all some quality family time together.
I wish you all were here! xx

Sweet Photo Shoot

My camera has been in overdrive since I found the photography bug about 18 months ago - I have so many photos that I sometimes get confused what I have shared and what I haven't - keeping them backed up and in a sensible order is a job in itself (would love you to share your online photo filing system in case I am missing a simple solution).

I came across these today while sorting through the library and I realised I have never shared them.  They are from a second shoot I did for the My Little Jedi Magazine Launch Issue last year (the one used in the magazine can be found here).   Hope you like them - sweet and simple and would be perfect for a little bridal shower.

point & shoot

this weekend was chock - o - block. it started with a family fun night at school with a giant slide & jumping castle to keep all the little ones entertained while the Mums & Dads mingled. I mingled so much I didn't take one photo    oops!

then on Saturday I spent 3hrs helping & holding up my little first time skater girl {it was her school friends birthday party at a local skate centre} until she had the hang of it all & was wanting to skate all by herself!

we then enjoyed a bbq with friends very late into the night, & Sunday involved sleeping in, Tupperware & an afternoon tea party.

today my skater girl & I are hanging out at home drinking lots of fresh juice to try & rid ourselves of Summertime colds.

A Simple Sunset

Saturday afternoon I missed Rob. I just missed missed missed him! I spent 1 night with him during the week and I was just desperate to spend a couple of hours with him before he had to work again on Sunday! So he got home at 5 and by 5.10 we were in the car heading down to our local beach! Just us, our swimmers, and the open road. I wanted to see the sunset. We drove 40 minutes to simply walk along the beach and watch the sunset!

It was absolutely worth it! We got there just in time for the sun to start its slow journey to bed. The glowing orange shone so bright! The beams and rays shot across the sky like fluro red icicles. The sky tuned from pretty greys and blues, into rich oranges and finishing with pretty soft pinks, right before our eyes.

We walked hand in hand while Rob watched and observed all the fishermen and boats and I watched and observed (and took photos) of the beautiful sky above us. We were home by 8.00 but it was so perfect. It was just what we needed. We needed to break away from the house, from our jobs, from the animals and just take a mini time out and recharge our batteries.

This beautiful sunset was such a special and Simple Thing that made me feel happy and at peace!

Nursery in a box!

Have you/ did you ever wish you could just order your gorgeously stylish nursery in a box? You know, just hand over your trust and credit card to someone with impeccable taste who would transform your white box into a beautiful and functional space for your babe-to-be? On a -- gulp -- budget?

Well, now you can!

Many of us would love to create a stylish, modern, cohesive nursery space... but not all of us have the vision or know-how to pull it all together. The magazines make it look so easy, but there is a reason interior designers are paid to do what they do! And not all of us can afford to hire our own personal interior designer...

There are tons of baby stores out there of course, but not all of us are excited by the Winnie the Pooh matching duvet/ wall decals/ lamp set or the Fisher Price musical mobile and its hard to know where to go for something both unique, affordable and stylish!

Well, look no further than Little Maison. I stumbled upon founder Leah via her blog a long while back; we're both mumtrepeneurs with young kids and I really adore her style. Her 'Nursery in a Box' concept makes nursery design a cinch! Simply pick your gender and budget and Leah does the rest! Gorgeous furniture (LOVE those egg chairs!), unique linen and decorative pieces make your nursery the perfect space for your tot.  Here are some images from Leah's site; do pop over for the breakdowns and pricing etc -- I really wish I'd known about this when I was struggling to put Fern's room together! Have fun looking xx
