Anxiety makes me anxious

I've been bleating on about being anxious and drowny and I wanted to ask for your help. Don't stress, just support and advice. I'm not even close to the sidebar PayPal button.*

When I'm feeling anxious and unsettled, I feel like I'm completely different to everyone else and that I'll never fit in. It effectively perpetuates itself because being anxious makes me more anxious.

I think it helps to know that we're not facing anything unique in this life. Someone, somewhere has been through it all before. It would help to know that I'm not the only one who gets anxious about things like:

  • my children being liked and fitting in
  • me being liked and fitting in
  • my children's sleep
  • my sleep
  • change, of any description
  • settling into a new school year (see above)
  • work pressures and being made to do stuff I don't like (see above above)
  • access to diet coke (as you do)

What sort of things make you anxious?

Of course, silly me, I have absolutely zero strategies for dealing with anxiety and stress. Seeing a movie takes my mind off anything and, conversely, getting outside as much as possible. A hot bath and an early night seem to help. Until they don't...

Do you have any tips for dealing with that knot in your chest?
How can I help it go away?

* Ouch. Sorry about that!
