A Good New Story

One of my girlfriends has been out of work for about 8 months and has been looking hard for work. In one week alone she sent off 20+ applications. A lot of the time she hasn't even managed to get an interview and she was understandably getting disheartened and disillusioned.

She did a couple of months contract work with me, but I had no more money to keep her on contract, even though she did a fantastic job and was a joy to have working with our team.

We had discussed the fact that there was a job out there somewhere, it would come and find her, she just had to be patient.

Well - it found her yesterday - she didn't apply, she didn't even know it was on offer. It found her anyway. So if you are out there looking for work, keep positive and believe. I know it is easy for me to say, I am not in your shoes. But keep your confidence and self belief as I am sure you can be just a lucky.

~ Friday Food ~

We are loving MasterChef Australia in our house - the Friday masterclass is just wonderful and I have been getting loads of great cooking tips.

I have been very inspired to do some cooking on the weekend after watching my weekly fix of MasterChef.

Enjoy your weekend - hopefully it is filled with delicious food.

Alfresco dining

Alfresco dining table
I like to make the most of dining outside in the summer months. Over the past couple of years I've collected everything I would need for entertaining outside in a colour palette consisting of pale pink, pale blue, green and red.

In the picture above, the dip bowl set was from Tchibo, the colour coordinated pink and blue cutlery from Cath Kidston, and the blue ribbed table runner from Casa Domani. The small glass green votive contains lemongrass scent from Restoration Hardware.

In the picture above, the striped red and white bread knife is from Tchibo, the bread basket is from a local store, and the bird print napkin is from Cath Kidston.

Alfresco dining Cath Kidston style
Great for summer garden parties or everyday eating (not just for kids!), I went for these large and small floral and bird melamine plates from Cath Kidston on the bottom and top, with smaller dotty melamine plates in the middle from Green Gate. The salad bowls, small bowls and red spot salad servers are also from Green Gate.

Tea towels

I have been looking for some new tea towels in pale blue and pink to match my kitchen. Here are some of my favourites:

VW camper van tea towels
I'm loving the hand illustrated VW camper van ones above. So pretty and retro.

Colt circles in seafoam tea towels
Colt circles in seafoam from fabulous online store Etsy.

Pink scooter tea towel
Blue bubble car tea towel
Pink scooter tea towel and blue bubble car tea towel. I love the simplicity and so retro.

~ Mummy Cards ~

I just love these mummy cards I found on the internet - what a great idea to have a business card that has all your info on it including your kids details - after all being a mum is an important job so why not have your own business card!

How may times have you been asked for your phone number or email so you can arrange a play date and you don't have a pen and paper on you - this solves all those problems and is very cute as well.

~ Replica Furniture ~

I just love this furniture from Matt Blatt - fantastic chairs and stools at reasonable prices.

This egg chair will be wonderful in our lounge room - in front of the fire or admiring the view.

This rocking chair would be fantastic in the nursery.
A great office chair?
A wonderful dining chair.
And perfect stools for the kitchen island bench.
I think we are organised for chairs!!

~ What will you look like? ~

I had my final ultrasound today so there has been a lot of discussion in our house about who this baby will look like.  My mum is convinced from the ultrasound photos that it will look like me with big chubby cheeks.  My husband is convinced it will look like our eldest daughter Sienna.

The names that my girls keep coming up with are most amusing - our youngest daughter Sofia has decided it is going to be called Baby Jesus - we all find this just gorgeous!

I have just over 3 weeks to go and my wish is for a healthy and happy baby and no matter who it looks like I will think this baby is beautiful.
