Scrabble art...

What do you get when you cross...

... an old canvas; a black tube of paint, and a $5 game of Scrabble found at the OpShop??

I'm creating an art wall in my home (in the bathroom no less, but that's another story) and looking to fill it with inspiring, creative works made both by myself and by individuals far more talented than I. When I found the Scrabble set I couldn't help but buy it; there are so many ways to use the old tiles -- to make jewellery or cards, or to create an original artwork like the one I've come up with below. Only problem with my original configuration was there were not enough 'H's... and it didn't look quite as effective using the blank square... however, with a little playing around I came up with the below. Not bad I thought for an artwork that cost me <$10!

After months of procrastinating, doubt and indecision about whether to commence my journey into the land of the blog… I took a deep breath today and decided to take the plunge. I’m not sure why today was different to any other; perhaps the glorious sunshine and light breeze took hold of me …

Regardless, my blog is designed to be a record of the things that I love and am inspired by in life… my beautiful daughter, Fern; art & design, music, food and the work and musings of other creative individuals.

My Laundry room ideas

I recently saw a fantastic post by The bottom of the ironing basket with great laundry pics, which got me thinking about our downstairs bathroom that we are going to turn into a laundry room. These are a few of the items I want to put in the laundry room when finished. What I really like about them is they don't have to be hidden away in cupboards.

Housekeepers tin bought from Restoration Hardware about 5 years ago! They don't do them anymore but John Lewis has a similar one. For the prettiest white, pale blue, pale pink or taupe Housekeepers box go to Steady Sticks Australia available at Crate & Barrel

I bought my Laundry powder box at the same time as the Housekeepers box from Restoration Hardware, but sadly they don't sell them anymore. John Lewis does a nice cream version or try Steady Sticks Australia.
