Hopping Mad

I've come to the conclusion that Spotlight is a lot like Ikea in that you go in for one quick, little thing... and come out with a trolley full of wonderful items you don't need -- but suddenly can't live without.

Case in point. Last weekend, I ventured in for a moment to check out some rugs they had on sale. No luck there, I had a quick little poke into the craft isle... where, in a moment of insanity I decided it would be a GREAT idea this year to be all thrifty and Martha Stewart-y and make my own Easter eggs.

Because, with a 14 month old and a baby on the way, plus home renovations and a family business, I have nothing else to do.

And, having to buy a million packets of chocolate buds, plus moulds, colourings, noodle boxes, wooden packing straw and pretty ribbon it was soooo much cheaper than going to Woolies and buying a coupla boxes of eggs for the fam. Yeah right.

Anyway, this afternoon upon reading the instructions on the back of the moulds I'm a little, well, nervous. Am I up for the Easter egg making challenge?? It all seems a tad more labour intensive than I first thought and in truth, Im not real good around hot stoves. And I don't want to ruin my new saucepans! I hope the Easter bunny rescues me!

Quick - have you ever made your own eggs for Easter before? Have you any tips to save this crazy idea from descending into chocolate-hell? Hellllp!

Could it really be true.....?

Above are some of the ways you can decorate eggs for Easter. I'm favouring the pastel painted ones with a white motif for my plastic eggs.

Ouch!!

The soon to be birthday girl had a slight altercation with a table yesterday and is looking rather bruised and swollen - thankfully nothing broken but she is looking rather beaten up - hoping the swelling goes down by party day! And to think she wasn't even doing anything silly just bending down to pick something up and smacked her poor little nose into the edge of the coffee table. Poor little muffin!!

Thankfully recovery was quick and today she was cheeky and playing up to the camera!!

making their mark

I read a lot of blogs! it makes me feel like I have more of a connection to the outside world as my Mummy days are busy cleaning hands, feeding little tummies, baking, cooking, cleaning, trips to the park, playing on the beach, keeping the household happy & doing loads of washing that never seem to end.

I was really excited this week to see Sarah from a Beach Cottage featured in Real Living magazine - you must check out her amazing home & flair for beachyness! Spending time reading her blog will inspire you all.

My friend Susannah Tucker - an extremely talented fine art photographer - launched her website this week susannahtucker.com you will definitely get lost in a daydream as you click through her gorgeous site. Her images are so dreamy & fresh. Her stackable photo blocks have a special place in my heart - just adorable.

Go Fabulously Green....

I have blogged about Carli's nappies before but felt it was time for Minilala's own post. Selfishly, at first it was her choice in fabrics that made me want her devine nappies for Louise. I mean go look at them - they are just gorgeous!

But really, having a 2 and half year old that is still in nappies {and is not remotely interested in sitting on anything that looks like a toilet} has made me feel rather guilty at the amount of disposables we have probably gone through. I purchased one of her one size fits most cloth nappies late last year and can't believe I hadn't done it sooner. Its been perfect for the hotter weather - as it is just so lovely - I'm happy to show it off {no cartoon Austalian animals in sight on these ones - not that I'm bagging Aldi at all - definitely converted there} and it just feels good knowing that at the end of the day, I have a lot less nappies to pile into the bin. These nappies go from Newborn to toddies with ease and wash up perfectly.

Next time round I will be doing cloth nappies a lot more and as Minilala now do gift certificates - this is where I will pointing my family to for sure.

Following on from Friday's post, Easter trees, I thought I'd share some of the lovely hanging eggs you can buy to decorate your tree with.

Last year I hung felt birds on my Easter tree. This year my tree will be made from cherry blossom and pussy willow branches. I have a set of plastic eggs from last year that I want to hang from the tree, but I'm still contemplating how to decorate them! Tomorrow I will share some of the ideas I have found on decorating the eggs.

Plastic eggs for decorating!
