Mother's Day Ideas...

Point + Shoot : 10

Sunday 10am 18th April
Glenferrie Road Festival

I suppose one the benefits of having a husband that lives and breathes bicycles, is that he is always willing to travel for a great coffee.

He has been pestering me to visit one of his early morning hangouts (he has a few depending on where he cycled too that day) in Hawthorn.

Boy I was so not disappointed - Liar Liar Cafe (or "Kinkora" to cult followers) had that perfect blend of  modern but comfy interior, friendly welcoming staff, trendy music and TOO DIE FOR coffee. It just so happened that our little visit coincided with a massive street festival with rides, farm animals and Banana's in Pajamas so Louise was equally as pleased.

Hope you all had a great weekend

Some Sunshine and More

I have been a little remiss in blogging about some awards I have received for this blog. I suppose it comes down to feeling like I am 'blowing one's own trumpet' - which is not something I am normally comfortable in doing. However, the 2 lovely bloggers who passed these awards on should be thanked publicly and I apologise for my tardiness.

Melissa @ Suger Coat It has awarded me the Sunshine Award.

Sarah @ Just Me has awarded me the One Lovely Blog Award.

I thank you both for your generous comments about this blog. I enjoy popping in and reading both of you so much, so if anyone who reads this hasn't made the trip - I encourage you to do so, you won't be disappointed.

For the Sunshine Award I need to list some things that make my happy:

Spending time with:

My family
My 'sisters'

and

In Nature:

Blue skies with wispy white clouds
Butterflies flitting around my garden
Pelicans soaring on the thermals
Bird song in the morning especially magpies carolling
Looking out my study window at the beautiful climbing rose given to me by a friend

I need to pass these awards on, it was hard to narrow down the list, but choosing one blogger for each award, I am sending these to:

One Lovely Blog Award to Rianna at The Last Doll Standing - truly a beautiful blog tended to by a beautiful soul, always filled with lovely things.

The Sunshine Award to Tanya @ Meaningless Meandering from a Madmother - this mad mother has the most generous heart - reaching out just when she knows you need her. Thanks for always being there.

I always struggle with handing out these award type things, as all of my readers mean the world to me and all of you deserve to be awarded in some way or another.

exciting times

here is the feature from the Herald Sun Home mag last Saturday of my dolls house - it was a very exciting morning at our house!

Woodland themed invites

Woodland theme invite pastel by Torie Jayne
Woodland theme invite purple by Torie Jayne

I have a baby shower to organize for a dear friend of mine. She is a very stylish friend that organizes the best themed parties, like the Alice in Wonderland party she threw for her husband's birthday last year; think big paper flowers hanging from the ceiling, vintage teacups filled with cheesecake and cute "eat me" bracelets for the guests.

I knew I would have to come up with something good! She recently purchased an owl print for the nursery and loves her ceramic mushroom so I thought a cute woodland theme would be in order. First up, the invites! I think I will go with the purple version as I have some gorgeous cupcake cases in purple/white spots and kelly green/white spots.

Feel free to double click the pics (opens in a new window) and save them for your woodland themed party. I think they would be cute for a kids birthday as well!

Have a sweet day!

If I were any more nesty...

me just shy of 21 weeks - I finally have a bump!

This is just a short apology for my, well, scattyness at the mo. Perhaps you havn't noticed? I hope not. I adore my blog for the creative release it gives me from the humdrum of everyday life, but I sometimes wonder what the hell I'm doing it for, and whether it is of any interest to anybody at all besides myself. After all, I bore me most of the time!!

But the root of my scattyness at the moment lies with the nestiness I've been consumed, hell obsessed with over the last couple of weeks. To be honest if I were any more nesty, I'd be laying an egg!! Nestiness is not unique to my pregnancy (well, duh) but is it strange to be this bad at 21 weeks??? Last pregnancy I'm not certain I ever really got nesty at all, certainly it didn't manifest itself in the cleanliness of my home! This time I am a woman possessed. Just this week I:

- Painted the nursery
- Cleaned out all the bedroom cupboards from five years of accumulated debris
- Filled 3 garbage bags of clothes for charity
- Bought storage containers and labelled all of Ferny's old clothes by size
- Washed, folded, ironed and stored every article of 0000 clothing
- Sorted all the photo albums

... there's probably more but I currently have the memory of a goldfish. My sister is coming to stay over the weekend and it is the only reason I havn't already packed away the Queen size bed currently in the 'spare-room-cum-nursery' even though I have 5 months to go! It is suddenly of integral importance to get that room cleared and cleaned to within an inch of its life.

Good lord, I've gone insane.

Have a good weekend peeps, if you need me I'll be buried nose deep inside my wardrobe, organising every garment by size, type and colour...
