MISSING IN ACTION!!!

Well I am back! Finally! I have been M.I.A for the past 3 weeks. It has been school holiday time and school holidays mean Sarah doesn't have time to sneeze! It is Go Go Go with little 'me' time! I had a fantastic 2 weeks with the kids on their school holidays and even though it was busy, it was full of long days at the beach, laughter, beach footy, surfing, fish and chips, bubble blowing, swing rides, swimming lessons, shell collecting, kite flying, sleep overs, rock pool exploring, fishing, ice creams and happy faces. We spent a week up in Noosa and then a week at Palm Beach and the grey clouds did not stop us from having fun! We did have to go see two movies as the beach was no fun in the rain but even though it was cooler then previous years it was still extremely pleasant on the beach. We had a bundle of laughs, experienced a lot of new things and created special memories that will last a lifetime!

It is now 1.20am and I was just about to go to bed 2 hours ago when its starting raining - there is nothing more beautiful than the smell of rain - so I hopped into bed and decided to read for a bit and enjoy the calming sound of the rain on our roof as I read my fav book snuggled in bed - it then started storming and I just couldn't resist it...we haven't had a storm in a while and I didn't want to miss it! Storms are so amazing. So I took my book and a cheeky midnight snack and went and sat on the 70cm x 1m concrete square that was protected by the rain and sat and watched the sky light up and listen to the thunder rumble. As I was staring out into the street and watched the raindrops fall in the street light I realised how much I missed my blogging and its moments like these that I love sharing with you all. How beautiful life is. Some people view storms and rain as bad and annoying but if you ever have a spare couple of minutes just stop and listen and watch. It's so magical how the lightening can light up the entire sky, it is so magical how loud the thunder can be rolling across the sky. Most things in our lives that we view as negative can 'most of the time' be something truly beautiful. Remember after the rain there is always a rainbow.

And Then There Were Four: Experiencing the love of a mother

Sometimes I think I am unrecognisable. A completely different person to the person I was before my children came into my life. Both mentally and physically transformed. I am sure it is not true, but it feels that way. My life changed irrevocably when I had children.

My first lesson came early in the piece. Let me just start by saying that I never saw myself as the Mother Earth type. The fact that I have a tribe (four children, five and under) came as a complete surprise. Quite literally with some of the pregnancies. I just never knew I’d be so fertile!

Once things got ticking away, I learnt that I actually don’t want to ‘sleep like a baby’. Not all babies sleep it seems, which means that their Mums and Dads don’t either. I would have sworn that I couldn’t cope without 8 hours of sleep a night. After more than five years of interrupted sleep, I have been proven wrong.

Being a non-consumerist is a handy quality when you are a Mum because a) you never get to spend any money on yourself anyway and b) even if you get ‘only the essentials’ your entire house will eventually pile up with children’s paraphernalia.

My twin pregnancy taught me that if your tummy stretches to the point that it can sit in your own lap, it probably isn’t going to spring back. Abdominoplasty may in fact be a solution for many, not just the vain, Barbie doll types. A sanity saver in fact.

My children have also taught me just how full your heart can be. I have always loved my family. I love my husband with all my heart. Then along came Nugget, Doo Dah, Dew Drop and the Minx. My heart just kept getting bigger and I found I could love them all. Completely.

And having children taught me how amazing a parent’s love is. I remember after my first child was born calling my Mum and saying “sorry”.

“What for?” she replied.

“I just didn’t realise how much you love me. How much all those crazy stunts I pulled as a teenager must have hurt you. I just didn’t get it”, I said.

She said, “Apology accepted. I am just so glad that you have had the opportunity to experience the love of a mother for yourself”.

Yep. My children have taught me that I am a Mum. The ‘real parents’ aren’t going to be turning up to raise these gorgeous things. That is the life-work of me and my husband. Every day there will be new challenges and new experiences. Every day will also hold a lot of ‘sameness’, ground hog day qualities and routine. But every day I will get to enjoy these little people that I have helped create until they are released into the big wide world to find the opportunity to experience the love of a parent for themselves.

♥

Wow. Just wow. Experiencing the love of a mother really has been the most wonderful gift. It's all you could ask for your own children.  For more wonderful words of honest wisdom, visit MultipleMum at And then there were four.

& Hello hoppers from Welcome Wednesday!

leave me a comment, and I'll follow back :)

The beautiful view from my bedroom window....today was hot and we had old friends over for the day.
Old..... as in dear old friends who I have know for what feels like a lifetime. We had so much fun chatting and catching up, so I forgot to really capture the lovely moments. And the one's I took of the boys playing in the water, under the hose and in the sandpit are a little to bare for display!
These photos captured late in the afternoon....just the two of us playing with water and trying to keep a very tired little boy awake until dinner.

This week for my 'shops i love' page I bring you one of my favorite English clothing brands, All Saints, for a bit of rock'n'roll chic!

All Saints was established in 1994 as a wholesale menswear brand and is known for its edgy forward thinking fashion. The name refers in part to 60’s TV icon Simon Templar - aka The Saint - and in part to All Saints Road in Notting Hill - notorious for its artistic and musical associations, especially its links with the Clash.

In 1997 they launched their womenswear range and have been going strong ever since with their first shop opening in Carnaby Street, England, on All Saint's day in 1997. They now have stores in LA, NY, Miami, Copenhagen, Berlin and Paris to name a few. Noone does the rock chic look better and their leather jackets are worn by Drew Barrymore, Cheryl Cole and Kristen Stewart, amongst others.

On my wish list this Fall is the gorgeously crushed leather brocade detailed leather jacket, cream fair isle scarf with large pom poms, heavily metal-sequined skirt, 1920's style beaded shawl, knee high riding buckle detail boots and the deconstructed cable cardigan with the signature asymmetrical detail.

Have a sweet day!
