On Monday I showed you the Winter Woodland Christmas theme I am going for this year.

So, last month after a delicious family Sunday lunch prepared by my wonderful mother we all went for a walk in the woods at the back of my parents' house and collected pine cones, silver birch bark, moss and acorn tops. After giving everything a good clean and shake, I have been drying them out in front of the radiator. The pine cones that were closed when I picked them up from the woodland floor have since opened out as they dried and look wonderful.

I am thinking of making a wreath with some of the pine cones, covering some mini bird houses in the bark and using the acorn tops filled with Fimo to decorate my presents! With the remainder I think I will adorn the "Winter Woodland Candy Table" I'm planning.

Have a sweet day!

This Saturday I'm grateful for... support

Here in Maxabellaland, Saturday is traditionally a sport, shop, sort the clothes, sweep the floors, strangle the Tsunamis (insert other 's' words here - no pun intended) kinda day. But it's nice to pause to appreciate the things in your life that are positive and affirming, whatever they may be.

This Saturday, I'm grateful for...

1. Support - because even those annoying optimists need to be told that it's all going to be okay in the end.

2. Birds - we all know I'm slightly obsessed. I like their design, I like their song, but most of all I like the fact that every time I see a flying bird I feel free and charmed and easy.

3. Toilets - because without them...

So, what's making you smile today? Link back your own Grateful post below and then pop over to visit other bloggers who are spreading a little sunshine.  No hurry - we're all about laaaaazy Saturdays. Link is open all week. Happy day to you!

Merry Christmas To Me!

So, after much debate, I decided to upgrade. I sold my Sony HX1 to a friend and purchased a Nikon D3100! My interest in photography (as a hobby) has soared and I wanted something I can grow into and constantly learn more about. For months before I got the Sony I looked at the Nikon D5000, I knew I wanted an SLR, but ended up settling for less because I thought I wasn't ready. My Sony is really a great camera, and I will always recommend it, but I wanted more out of it than it was giving. Then I saw the recent release of the Nikon D3100 and thought- this is perfect. I got it for a good price on Amazon (plus I had a gift card)! I can't wait to start playing with it. I'm already looking up classes in my area to join to really get the full use out of it.

Merry Christmas to me :)

they were all

these were taken by my little one during our recent bush walk. she loved stopping at every flower she saw.
i had my camera.
she had hers.
we chatted.
& snapped away.
& it made me realise.
i need to do it more often.
get out in the great outdoors.
& see life through their eyes.
