Heelllo Autumn!

Fears that Autumn had passed us by were put to rest on the weekend. What glorious weather! We went for brunch at our favourite cafe and then across the road to a secret little neighbourhood park that no-one ever seems to go to but us.

Crunchy leaves under-foot soon become a mist of confetti.

Leaves in the mouth, leaves in the ears and, oh, what's that! Leaves in the nose!?

Washed down perfectly with a sunny orange and a little Cappers cheer.

One day you'll regret your refusal to pose for a picture, Badoo. When you come all sad to Mumma saying "why are there more pictures of Maxi and Cappers than me?" I will remind you of this day.

Can't I just get ONE decent photo of all three of you? Just one?

Ah well, two outta three ain't bad.

Are your children willing models? Or do they go crazy and refuse to comply like mine?
Any tips for getting them to be 'nice'?

Inspirational Pins - Laundry Room Storage

Laundry Room Storage by Torie Jayne
Today in my series of posts "Inspirational Pins", I bring you some new pics of cute laundry rooms! We have decided on the layout for our new laundry room/cloakroom and I have started making my bird trail fabric blind for the window. I have my pretty Housekeeper's box , laundry tin and ironing board cover sorted so now I am looking for fresh pretty storage ideas to match. I have a few white wire hangers begging for a make-over and some bird trail oilcloth left over from my washing machine cover that needs to be turned into something!?! DIY Mobiles for Nurseries... Parties... Events... Cubbies?

I love tissue paper pom poms. I do. Doesn't everyone? Am I am sentimental toward them, having made a bunch for my baby shower a million years ago and many an event thereafter... but the idea is getting a bit - well - old, don't you think? So, I was excited to discover this alternative today!

It's a colourful paper mobile constructed from little more than some strips of paper and a line of sewing thread! I love that this mobile would look equally gorgeous in a babies nursery; hanging over a party table; strung from a tree or... I'm thinking, hung in a kids cubby house! And wouldn't it be sweet to make a bunch of these for a baby shower and use it afterward in the nursery? You could of course go all sophisticated and simply use blacks, whites and greys which would be a totally different - but still lovely - look, but I can't go past all that lovely colour!

The instructions for making these colourful mobiles can be found here. Enjoy - I'll be sure to share if I make some for the cubby!

the chalkboard table...

Hi, friends! How was your weekend? Well, yesterday was a bit of a cracker in old Sydney town. Perfect weather - warm and sunny, no breeze. With winter just around the corner (albeit fairly mild in these parts), days like these are to be savoured. Sunday gave us great weather for getting outdoors, cooking sausages on the BBQ and watching paint dry. Yes, I finally found the time to finish painting this children's table, a side of the road freebie care of our suburb's rubbish collection day.
Before

Inspired by images like this one, I decided to convert this attractive purple and white number into a chalkboard table for Lily (...the easel is on it's last legs). We already had white paint on hand but when it came to the black chalkboard paint, Bunnings wanted $24 for half a litre - too pricey and too much paint for the task at hand. But then I found a local supplier who offered half the amount for half the price - sold!

P.S Thanks again for all your wonderful reading suggestions - lots to add to the list.
