Birthday craft and a new vase...

We are getting ready for
someone's party here .... Lou is just a little excited and has been
helping me get some decorations ready. We are being super original and
going with a fairy theme - Fairy love kicked in a couple of months back
and she is mad on them.

 We've
been making cupcake toppers, goodie bag fillers and a heap of
decorations. Its been nice to do something together during Evie's nap
time. I must remember to take some photos this year.

We kicked off party season this weekend with a fab party of a
dear friend's little one on Saturday and on Sunday we celebrated the terrible Melbourne
weather by going out for Lunch with some friends. We really wanted to eat at our new favourite place but it must be everyone else's favourite new place too because it was packed with a 20min wait, so we went here instead which was yummo. Oh and I bought this.... how cute!!

Hope you had a great weekend!!

Postie delivery: Living happily ever after

The irony that my third guest postie delivery is actually a post about Living Happily Ever After does not escape me. I'm really not very good at this whoring business, am I?

I wrote a while ago about why I thought marriage was a very good idea and today I'm over at My Shoebox Life talking about how to keep that very good idea a... er, very good idea.

Thanks for having me, Shell.

The flitter flutter of little butterflies.....

Now that Spring has sprung, I am surrounded by inspiration and - frankly - the washing basket is overflowing, the sink is full of dirty dishes, and I am on a sewing rampage! The poor kids -- at worst I could be considered a neglectful and at best certainly a distracted  mother... Elliott has taken to playing with the spices out of the pantry for want of my getting down on the floor to rough-and-tumble with him, but I know he'll forgive me. Being busy makes me happy, and at least I've relaxed my normally nazi-esque housekeeping standards and the kids can run feral just the way they like it?!

Last week, there were little butterflies flitter fluttering all over every surface... I've gone mad about the butterflies, folks. Can't seem to help myself. Today I thought I'd share some of what I've been working on in my shop: they're singlets for Summer. In all colours of the rainbow: soft pink, yellow, green and white cotton singlets with 2 dimensional fluttering butterflies made from a variety of colours and patterned fabrics and felt that actually wave in the breeze! They have little cotton tendrils and each have a little vintage button feature. Szes are from 000-3 (3 in white only) And -- at $15 a pop they're an idea for your xmas gift list? Just a thought.  :)

Grab one from my Madeit store or on Etsy.

I'd love your feedback as always... and otherwise, have a happy week, folks!!

packed & unpacked

it's always good to get away. time off from the daily routine, chores & home life. we try to have a holiday every year & often end up at a holiday spot that has a beach! {just so we have a little piece of home close by} for the past two weeks we have been holidaying & enjoying new sights, early morning walks, less cooking, more reading & time together as a family. I am looking forward to sharing some of our holiday snaps with you all. But for now it's time for me to go & get the school gear ready & pack a lunch box &.......get back to reality!

Christmas at Next

Christmas at Next
Chrome stag head
Cut out Christmas cards
Ornate hanging heart ornament
Snowy white pinecones

So here is the sneak peak at what you can expect from Next this Christmas! At the press event they showed us four stories for Christmas; a contemporary red and white themed story that included applique deer head cushions and red berry topiary trees, a rich decadent purple theme, a glitzy gold story with glittered birds and bird cages, and my favourite, the ice palace with contemporary snowflake motifs and twinkly twiggy trees.

In a colour palette of opal, pearlescent and frosty tones of white mixed with the brilliance of silver, soft focus floral and leaf motifs with cute polar animals sit alongside shiny silver deer heads and snowy white pinecones. Etched heart and twinkly snowflake decorations were hung and feathered birds perched from snowy paper mache trees.

All of this got me thinking about Christmas and how I can update last years theme of a "Winter Woodand" Christmas. To kick start my ideas I have created a new Pinterest board, Christmas 2011. I just love Christmas and can't wait to start crafting and making some new decorations.

What are you thinking for Christmas, or am I just a tad too early!?!

Have a sweet day!

..are kinda lovely, don't you think? I'm optimistic about squeezing in a series of jar shots before the next baby arrives. bubs is now so strong and active at night that I've been missing my usual bedtime. so my new favourite late night time-waster is trawling through etsy's photography talent - there's plenty here to inspire. three magical jar images...
