And now, back to (my!) studio...

Hey guys! How has been the week that was? As usual mine has flown at the speed of light -- where does time go? Firstly, can I thank everyone who gave me some great advice re re-covering my lamp; I dont feel nearly as intimidated now! Gonna try to give it a try over the weekend! But today I wanted to share with with you a little studio update!

A lot has happened since my last post and my previously hideously rat-infested back-of-garage room now has the distinct resemblance of a studio, a bedroom and a little bathroom! The studio space is going to be small -- about 2x3 metres in total, which isn't large by any means. But its a damn sight larger than the kitchen table, I can assure you!

My husband is dreaming up the makings of a built-in wraparound desk so I have plenty of counter-top on which to work (I do tend to spread myself about) and I'm planning lots of pigeon holes underneath and shelves above the desk in which to hold all my stuff. The walls have gone up. I've ordered the carpet. And now I have a week-and-a-half to finish the gyprocking, install the sliding doors between the studio and bedroom and into the bathroom, do all the priming and painting, tile the bathroom, and finish the electrical before my carpet arrives and is installed! Eeeeek!

Here's some (really bad) pics so you can see the progress:
looking from the long end past my studio (its got a half wall and no door into my space; didnt want to close it all in... and into the new bedroom
my studio! Not using that desk, just there to measure depth. And the door is just leaning there for support! Don't you love my awesome pics?! ;)

the rumpus/ spare bedroom and ensuite!

What are you up to over the weekend? Me -- I'll be making lots of bm3 orders and hopefully catching the latest Twilight flick. There, I said it. Im a closet Twi-hard ;)

Gift Guide 2011 - She sews...

Today's gift guide is for the bathing beauty.

Bathing beauty...

1. I just adore the delicate print of vintage flowers, birds and bird cages on the pretty packaging of the Lolita luxurious botanical hand cream in the scent of flowering Willow and Lotus with traces of Orchid, Rice flower and warm Coconut milk mixed with notes of Mandarin and Jasmine petals. 2. Inject a splash of colour in to your bathroom with the hard wearing resin rainbow free-standing mirror in bright pink, ideal for applying make up! 3. Oh, how I love the pink Portobello glass cabinet with distressed finish from Nordal; so pretty and useful.

4. I love the birds of paradise cotton robe from Pip Studio; such a cute print! 5. The bottles of Paul & Jo nail enamel in poodle pink come in lovely vintage styled bottles and would look great on a dressing table and on your nails. 6. My absolute favourite candle in the world is the Tocca Cleopatra candle and I have several dotted about my home, as the scent is divine and I adore the pretty duck egg blue labels.

7. A great stocking filler is the designer Paul Smith pale pink toothbrush, which is stylish, pretty and practical! 8. My favourite go-to place for loungewear is Hush, so these Winter bloom pyjamas are on my wish list. They come packed in pretty boxes and the pyjama set, which is made up of an oversized shirt with scoop hem and a wide leg low rise trouser, comes in a matching drawstring bag. Perfect for lounging about in on chilly nights.

9. The Savon Pur wild soap is made from pure vegetable content and this classic wild rose soap is traditionally created using natural ingredients with no use of colouring agents. The bright pink wrapping paper of this soap can even be folded into sea-orientated origami, making it a perfect gift! 10. Keep your soaps tidy in this sweet blue, round soap dish.

11. I have the birds of paradise towels in my cloakroom and always get lots of compliments, so for that reason they have made it to my gift guide. 12. Another great bathroom brightener is the beautifully packaged organic shea butter Lucia soap in sea watercress and chai tea from Canada. 13. Finally, make your bathroom feel super luxurious with this powder room print shower curtain.

Bonnie's Baby Shower Dessert Table

Last weekend I put together a pretty dessert table for a baby shower.

I still love this colour pallet whenever I see it together - pink and yellow, and here I added a touch of chocolate

Mum to be, Bonnie had sent out invitations that had a little umbrella on them so we decided to stick with the umbrella theme for the cake and cookies.

The beautiful cake, cookies and cake pops were made by Jacki from Blissfully Sweet Cakes.  I made some delicious vanilla panacotta's (you can get the recipe here) and also added macaroons, meringues, personalised chocolate bars and jars of sweets for the guests to take home.  A delicious punch was also served.

Simple and elegant - just perfect for the occasion.

Very excited that this party has been featured today over on Amy Atlas' blog - thanks Amy and Lisa.

All cake stands, glassware, mini pots, spoons, enjoy stamp, tablecloth and single colour lollies can be found in the Sweet Style Store here.
