Samsung G Series Three Door Refrigerator Review

Samsung G Series Three Door Refrigerator
Samsung G Series Three Door Refrigerator
I was recently asked if I would like to review a G Series Three Door Refrigerator from Samsung but having recently fitted a new kitchen into my home, as much as I loved the idea of this refrigerator, there was no way it would fit in my kitchen. On the other hand, my recently engaged little sister and her fiance are renovating their new home.

I immediately went and checked out this cool sounding refrigerator on Samsung's website. It looked so shiny, stylish and chic, boasted so much space inside and to top it all it had an ice maker! I thought it would look great in their kitchen! After ringing my excited sister, they checked over their kitchen plans and after taking the measurements into consideration they agreed it would be a perfect fit. It would also come in very handy as I'm chief wedding planner and will need plenty of space to store all the sweet treats myself and their friends and family are making for their special day.

So this past weekend I went down to visit her and her fiance in Devon. We spent Saturday trying out recipes I would like to make for my Christmas dessert table (recipes coming soon!) and planning out ideas for her wedding, which I will be sharing with you here over the next year!

We thought this was a great opportunity to put their shiny, sleek new refrigerator through its paces. My sister and I made panna cotta, gluten free key lime pie and chocolate mousse in mini glass jars, and chocolate raspberry cupcakes. All of the items easily fitted on the shelves and we didn't get in each other's way as we moved things in and out of the refrigerator due to the huge opening. The storage space is amazing due to the thin wall insulation technology which gives you extra space inside. As the desserts set we played about with the height adjustable balconies inside the door and everything fitted so well, from the tall bottles of soda to the mini milk bottles and the clever can dispenser that you can angle for easy can removal.

We loved the G Series Three Door Refrigerator. Not only does it look fabulous but Samsung have really pulled out all the stops. With its LED lighting it makes even the corners bright! It is roomy and can be configured in so many ways by using the foldable, flippable and slide out shelves. It has two fresh-safe, large vegetable drawers that provide the optimal humidity level to preserve vitamins and nutrients in fruits and vegetables. The water and ice dispenser is state of the art and provides continuous filtered water and crushed or cubed ice at the touch of a button. The water and ice dispenser is also tall enough to fill jugs and has its own lighting. The healthy water filter system ensures that water and ice from the refrigerator will always be clean and fresh.

Thank you Samsung, we love it!

That Every Kid In the Class thing: part 2

So, last year I was stunned to discover a series of crumpled Christmas cards at the bottom of Maxi's school bag. "Oh no! They're doing a card for every kid in the class?!" I panicked. I then went a bit crazy to make up for not being the first one out with the Christmas cards. As you do.

Which of course means that my panicked reaction has set the bar and this year the little faces were saying "what are we giving to every kid in the class this year, Oh Mum Who Should Know Better?"

So I stole this idea from Zoe at A Personal Touch via Pinterest and on the weekend we took breaks from decking the halls to fill bags with reindeer noses. As you do. We were like a little conveyor belt, churning out reindeer noses. Putting the kids to work was immensely satisfying.

There is a little personal Christmas message on the back of each label for each child. I started delicately clipping love heart holes and gently tying each label on with ribbon, but I was totally over that $%#@# fiddly job by about bag 12 so out came the stapler, snap, snap, snap. Is it wrong to, um, choose the kids who would get the special-ribbon noses?

Regardless, to say these little bags of festive cheer were a hit with the kids would be an understatement.

What are you doing for every kid in the class this year?*

* Please, please say "a card" or "what are you, crazy, you stupid woman, I'm doing absolutely nothing. NOTHING."

If you want to make your own reindeer labels, you can download the ones I made here. And I ordered my bags here. Have fun!

Teacher Presents.... Done.

Yay! Finally put together Louise's teacher presents. I really wanted them to be special this year as Lou is moving on to big girl kinder next year, she has also finshed up at her dancing class which she has just adored this year, so lots of sad goodbyes coming soon.

If your looking for really lovely gifts and very reasonable prices you must check out what Iszle has - there are so many styles and choices - and I thought just a little different.
I picked Scrabble tile necklaces and Pocket mirrors this year. I also made up some pretty chocolates using a PDF file I purchased from Fairydust Stylish Stationary. Toni is the invite design queen!! You must check out her birthday printables, they are gorgeous.
(I may or may have not already purchased Evie's first birthday set)
YES! I know she is only 8mths but I do like to prepare these things nice and early and the planning has already started.

Here is a sneak peak of the back - my favourite bit :)
~Please excuse the crappy nightime iphone photos~

Have you done your teacher pressies yet? I'd love to know what your getting or making this year!!

Sparkly print squirrel

Sparkly print squirrel

I loved how my polka dot print deer and pretty wooden birds turned out but I didn't know what to do with my wooden squirrel. I eventually settled on a printed squirrel, glittered to the max!

Tools and Materials

Sparkly print squirrel, How-to step by step
Sparkly print Squirrel - steps 1- 4

Start by carefully painting the sides, using a small paint brush, of the wooden squirrel in duck egg blue paint and leave to dry. To get a perfect fit on the printed card, place the dry wooden squirrel on the underside of the printed card and carefully trace around the edge of the squirrel with a sharp pencil. Flip squirrel over and place next to previously drawn squirrel shape, to avoid wastage, and trace around the other side of the squirrel. With a sharp pair of scissors, carefully cut out the squirrel shapes from the card and place to one side. Brush PVA glue onto front of the squirrel and firmly press the corresponding card shape onto glued front then leave to dry. Once dry, repeat with the shape for the back of the squirrel.

Sparkly print Squirrel - steps 5-8

Brush PVA glue onto front of squirrel in patches and immediately sprinkle with glitter before the glue starts to dry. Tap squirrel lightly to remove excess glitter. Continue until front of squirrel is completely covered in glitter.

Sparkly print Squirrel - steps 9-12

Brush PVA glue onto side of squirrel and immediately sprinkle with glitter before the glue starts to dry. Tap squirrel lightly to remove excess glitter. Continue this process until entire squirrel is glittered. Leave to dry.

Tip
I hold my squirrel over a clean small plastic pot when sprinkling with glitter to catch any excess glitter so it can be reused.

Documenting our lives

Look at that. Are you melting? This idea is so adorable and it's on my list of 'things to do immediately'. It's such a great way to snapshot our children's year - what they looked like, what they liked, what they did. I can see a little 21 page book being presented to each of them on their 21st birthday... if books still exist then, of course.

It's got me thinking, though. Most things get me thinking one way or another, right?

Well, this is what I'm thinking now...

Too much?

This incessant need we parents have to document our child's every move? To photograph and write it down and sometimes to wrap it all up in a professionally bound book and present it to them on their 21st birthday. Is it too much?

It's not natural, that's for sure. I don't think we were born to know the exact minute that we first smiled or walked or pooed in a toilet and it's definitely not natural that someone videotaped it. I'm pretty sure that all this parental documentary making means our children won't get to have the same sense of nostalgia about their lives that we are blessed with. Those magical family talks where you're all trying to agree what really happened on the 1982 road trip. Or was it 1983?

Not our kids. We're basically recording their every move, but it's our own version of their childhood that we're producing. We style them and pose them a little bit but not too much and then we take their picture. We're not recording their thoughts or feelings or flit-in-flit-out dreams or any of the other important bits that shape a memory, a life. The thread that weaves all that reality and a sense of self together in a person's own mind.

The sense of self we are giving to our children is perhaps a little inflated, don't you think? 20,000 photographs all starring... you, you, all you! Videos, booklets, wall art, blogs, journals, coffee cups... you, you, all you!

At the park the other day I saw a mother taking photos of her daughter at play. Miss 4 paused and posed and played and paused and posed and played. My first thought was "the only time that kid smiles is when the camera is in her face"... no, actually, my first thought was "does that mum blog?", but my second thought was much more important. The only time she smiled was when the camera was in her face.

Too much?

Christmas with My Little Jedi Magazine

The gorgeous Christmas edition of Vesna's My Little Jedi Magazine is out and it is just devine.  I was delighted to be part of this issue by contributing a number of articles from a Christmas Dessert Table to some gift wrap ideas to a collaboration with Jacki from Blissfully Sweet Cakes showing some lovely ideas for Pavlova's.

Today I am sharing with you some photos of the Christmas Dessert Table I put together.  A very different colour palette than my usual christmas but I just love this modern and simple look.  I hope you enjoy some shots of the table - the link to the complete magazine is attached at the bottom of this post and I will be back during the week to show some more photos from the other projects.

Cake, cupcakes and cookies were all made by Jacki from Blissfully Sweet Cakes
Pops on sticks and chocolate dipped donuts were made by me.  The table also included delicious Lindt Chocolate from their Masterpieces range and caramel macaroons.
