~ The Start of Christmas ~
We had a big day here in The Cove today - our tree went up and we went to visit Santa.
The Christmas Festivities have begun and the kids are so excited.
Our first Christmas in our new home will be wonderful and we are having all of Mr A's family here to celebrate for Christmas lunch.
Here is our Santa photo - it was terribly hard to get a good one of all 3 smiling so this was the best we could do - not that great of Indi but it is so lovely to have my first Santa photo with all my girls.
As I had them in photo mood and all dressed up I took the opportunity to take a few more of the three of them.
And one of the cheeky Sofia after the tree when up but before we decorated it.
December is such a lovely time here in Australia - the beautiful warm weather (except for today in Sydney when it turned rather cold and nasty to start off summer). It is a wonderful time for pool parties, drinks with friends and relaxing with the kids.
Oh Christmas Tree!
I cannot believe it is December already! This year has flown by, and it seems only yesterday I was 9 months pregnant and the size of a house, shuffling miserably on bulbous feet, moaning to anyone who'd listen about how much harder my pregnancy was to anyone else in the history of the universe... ha! Fast forward 12 months, and the realisation I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HARD WAS!

All I want for Christmas are eyes in the back of my head; my daughter is suddenly putting new meaning to the word 'mobile' and such is the trail of destruction that follows in her crawling wake, I shudder to think what my life will be like when she can walk.
We put the Christmas tree up today! It took me 3 hours -- 10 mins of which went into tree construction and over 2 hours rearranging the room in a vain attempt to deter Fern from climbing the tree/ eating the decorations/ tearing open the pressies. After a complete room reshuffle, I realised it was a fruitless endeavor and sadly packed away my most precious decorations and glass baubles for another year. Here's what it ended up like:
The colour scheme is mostly pink and silver, with a tiny splash of turquoise. I was going to hang Christmas lights, but they seem to have died since last Christmas and perhaps it is just as well; I am dubious as to how an 11-month-old and a sring of lights might mix? My favourite decoration this year is this little handmade Santa, purchased in Austria from a gorgeous Christmas store that enticed me in, despite the fact that it was June and I had to carry it (along with some handblown glass decorations) around in my backpack all over Europe. Little Santa didn't make the cut last year, but it seems very appropriate this year, don't you think?
My angel was handmade and posted to me with a Christmas card by my friend Katie last year; this year she adorns the top of my tree!
Fern's very sweet (and huge! What am I going to put in it?!) Xmas stocking was sewn for her by my mother in law:
I also hung my minimalist Christmas wreath on the front door, purchased from Mozi a couple of years back:
Now, what am I going to do with the wrapped pressies?

~ Christmas Cards ~
I have started my Christmas Cards and even sent a few but every year at this time I get a little confused as to who I really should be sending them to?
My list of people to send them to seems to grow each year but I am thinking this year that I really do need to cull the list. Not that I don't want people to receive a card and my annual yearly wrap up letter about our family but is it really necessary to send 100 cards!
I usually send a lovely photo card of the family as well as my letter but this year have decided to just include a few pictures in the letter and a standard christmas card.
The cost and time of sending them is getting greater each year so what do I do?
- Send them to those who sent them to me last year
- Send them to people I don't see that often and just want to make contact with to let them know we are still here
- Send them to family and friends I see every week and already know everything that is going on in my life
- Send them to family who I don't see that often but they know what I am doing through the grapevine
Would love to know what Christmas card etiquette is so please let me know what you are doing this year?
