You will need:
  1. Araldite ceramic glue
  2. Cupcake candle holder
  3. Fleur De Lys cup and saucer
  4. Fleur De Lys salad plate

Instructions
  1. Glue the bottom of the teacup to the bottom of the plate and leave to dry.
  2. Glue the cupcake candle holders to the top of the plate.

I love the cake stands made from teacups and adorned with fake cakes that Wendy McLachlan makes for Anthropologie. See my Anthropologie photos on flickr for more pics.

So, when I spied some of the cupcake candle holders in the sale basket at Anthropologie my mind started buzzing with ideas! The candle holders were a bit battered and missing their candles but with a clean, soak and some replacement candles they would work just fine. I headed over to the dinnerware and played about with the cupcake candle holders with various plate, cup combo's. In the end I opted for the Fleur de Lys plate and tea cup. After making my decorative cake stand I just had to go back to Anthropologie and buy the Fleur de Lys pitcher to use as a vase. They are currently adorning my dining table.

Have a sweet day!

revelling in rubbish

Renting in a wealthy suburb has it's perks. Ours has two rubbish collection days (March and September) with the kind of roadside finds that hardly qualify as rubbish. OK, I'm proud to admit I'm a bit of scavenger. Last year, we found this children's picnic table that also doubles as a photo prop. Now those little curbside garbage piles are popping up again and I'm getting excited. How about you? Have you ever scored a great roadside find?

and the winner is...

Bec from Memory Garden! A big congratulation to you, Bec and thanks again everyone for participating in my giveaway - a gorgeous 'Sparkle' print purchased from Abby Try Again. If you're not yet familiar with Abby's work, be sure to visit her online store - it is beautiful. For this giveaway, the winner's name was plucked from Lily's flower hat 'sweepstakes style' by my handsome assistant, Daniel.

P.S I so enjoyed visiting all the photography sites you recommended - thank you for your sharing them.

The First Appointment

February 4th 2011 @ 9am

My first appointment went great. I was nervous, excited, and so anxious to finally get my doctor's confirmation. But my mind raced with thoughts...What if they couldn't find anything? What if I really wasn't pregnant? What if something was wrong? My awesome doctor immediately gave me an ultrasound even though he said they usually do all the other boring stuff first. It seemed to be taking him awhile to find the baby, which made me even more nervous as I tried to look myself. Finally (seemed like an eternity but I'm sure it was really less than a minute) he showed my husband and I the tiny flickering heartbeat of our little bean and we were in awe. Baby measured 7 1/2 weeks and everything looked great!

The only bad part of the appointment was having to give five vials of blood. The nurse was really great but it felt like that needle was in my arm forever. As she was filling the the third tube Hubby said “wow how much do you have to take?” (Insert queasiness). It's not the little bit of pain that gets me, but I don't do well overall with blood and medical stuff.  I felt fine immediately after she was done and thought whew I winged this one. Nope, I sure didn't.  A minute later I was faint, hot, pale, and slightly dizzy. I was ready to pass out. The nurse quickly opened the windows (on a 30 degree morning) and brought me a coke and crackers. I thanked her a bunch for acting quickly for me. It took me five minutes or so but I regained myself and finally made it out to scheduling! I guess my body just can't handle all that. It's not the first time this has happened to me so I'm getting better at overcoming it faster. I just wish it wouldn't happen!  I feel like a wuss :)

Anyway... Here we are!
The happy soon to be parents :)
